A return to colour

The Chocolate Factory’s Alexandra Blum explains that “After working almost exclusively in black and white for the past three years, I am now using colour again…”

“…in a way which is entirely new to my practice. It is beginning to relate much more closely to my drawing, in terms of the juxtaposition of closely observed areas with those where invention, memory and intuition play a larger role in the mark made and the interaction between positive and negative space. I am very excited about where this might lead, particularly regarding the relationship between the sublime and the perception of space within an urban environment.”

Alexandra’s work is currently included in ‘Mapping the Change’ at Hackney Museum and we would like to congratulate her for being selected for the 2012 Threadneedle Prize exhibition.
