Originally from New Zealand i have lived and worked in London since 1986. I spent several years working in an art cabaret group, performing extensively throughout Europe.
My interests have also taken me into studying millinery design,culminating in a Master of Arts degree at the Royal College of Art in London. I worked in the fashion industry for two years making sculptural show hats for Paris and London before returning to fine art as my focus.
My work is concerned with my experience of migration. My sense of my life being spread over both hemispheres and the difficult sense of self and place this creates for me is a continuing focus of my work.
My artistic practice is not limited to one particular medium. I paint, create live art performances, ceramic pieces and build objects. These areas overlap and fuse in unexpected ways such as performances using sound created by ceramic objects.
I am interested in using the means necessary to achieve my creative goal. In my work i am interested in pursuing an awkward approximate beauty that is the human condition.
