State of Craft - new book release

From the pioneers of the new craft revolution in book form (Making Stuff) here is Ziggy Hanaor and Victoria Woodcock's latest page turner, State of Craft.
You will find a tutorial from Helen, studio F5, for fabric storage buckets. A few books will be on sale at the Open Studios too.

Emma Godebska at the Affordable Art Fair

Emma Godebska (studio G8) is showing some work at the Affordable Art Fair in North London. This new fair, which runs from 27th–30th October, brings together an impressive line up of contemporary galleries and affordable artworks, in the idyllic setting of Hampstead Heath. Pressing Matters - a university commission

London Metropolitan University has asked Sarah Knight and Lucy Phillips (studio F9) to put on an exhibition for architecture students explaining the different print techniques available at the university, and how these methods could help students' practices. The show, to be held at the Project Space in Spring House on Holloway Road, will run from 21-27 November.

This year’s winter open studio event will be held on Saturday 3rd –Sunday 4th December, from 11am -6pm.
Open studios offer a unique chance to see behind the scenes, meet the artists and discover the ideas behind the work. New Season of Millinery courses. Fascinators and hats.

From the 1st of October i have a new series of classes and courses in millinery beginning. For the first time i will be teaching evening and one day courses as well as continuing with the weekend workshops.
As well as felt and straw hats i will be focusing on fascinators and fabric flower making. and launching a vintage up-cycling course.....read more
Archaeology of urban time: drawing Dalston

Dalston, east London has been dissected layer by layer. Alexandra Blum has spent 3 years drawing the upheaval: from the street, within the vast Dalston Square construction site as artist in residence, and now from within one of the completed flats, a home on the 17th floor. The selection of drawings in this show at the Geffrye Museum explores the changing nature of space as the tower block evolves through time, the emergence of domesticity perched upon layers of raw construction and the shiftin....read more
Emma Godebska keeps it in the family in Nîmes

Emma Godebska (studio G8) is exhibiting her latest work alongside that of her two brothers as part of the Féria of Nîmes, a three-day street party in the city of Nîmes, France. In the exhibition Emma explores relationships – the ones we have with the outside world, the ones we have with others, and the relationship we have with ourselves.
Using found objects, acrylic sheets, wire and rope, she creates a dialogue between an emotion and a found object, with the artist as witness.
