Fish platters and artichokes

Sophie MacCarthy in G1 creates ceramics which are thrown and slip-painted earthenware. When they are dry Sophie paints a range of coloured slips sometimes over stencils or wax resist, or both, overlapping the colours to produce greater tonal depth. This process enables her to create layers of image, texture and colour. The fish dishes shown here will be available at Open Studios weekend, along with a tea towel she has illustrated for the Folio Society.

The tea towels will be for sale, or as a free gift for purchases over £50.

Alongside her work in ceramics Sophie has also been commissioned by the Folio Society to illustrate Elizabeth David cookbooks on Mediterranean Food, Italian Food, French Provincial Cooking, French Country Cooking and Summer Cooking. Here are a few of her food illustrations:
