The work Cecilia Vargas is showing during the summer 2013 Open Studios includes some of her most recent production of the past eighteen months. She explains that there is one exception: “Mid-Summer Red (2002) brings back memories captured in the physical shape of a painting that came home after a few years doing the commercial rental circuit and now in display in my studio. I can see the connections and differences that are seldom experienced when works created ten years apart are given the chance to coexist under the same roof for the public and the artist to see. I am happy to show this old friend along its newborn siblings. Family traits and differences inform a journey that continues and is a constant source of surprises.”
