Deborah Colman – Winter Open Studios 2014

The Ancient Japanese art of Shibori

Deborah Colman works with dye and cloth using the ancient Japanese art of Shibori to create fabric that is marked by folding, stitching and tying. Instead of the traditional indigo dye used in Japan she uses a varied palette of rich colours to cross-dye the fabric to striking effect on scarves and cushions. She is also working on a collection of screen printed fabrics for interiors, based around her drawings and block prints.  See her fabrics in studio G8 during our Open Studios Weekend.
